You can draw separate shapes on a layer or use the add subtract intersect or exclude options to modify the current shape on a layer.

If you want to make a downloaded stencil part of a template see add a stencil to a template. Click the stencil you want the template to have move your pointer over the categories to see the stencil lists in each category. When you drag a master shape onto a drawing page you create a copy or instance of the master the master itself remains on the stencil so that you can use it repeatedly. When you save the drawing stencils you see in the shapes window stencil list are there the next time you open the drawing.
